DOH WARNING: Adults over 40 with underlying health conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease...) or those who are pregnant — if you frequently experience leg numbness or fatigue, be careful:
Your veins may be weakening and at risk of rupturing, which can lead to serious complications, surgery, or even permanent loss of mobility!
The veins are a vital system that helps return used blood from the legs back to the heart, where it is filtered and recirculated to nourish the body.
When you suffer from conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, high blood lipids, or during pregnancy, changes in blood composition and increased pressure can damage and gradually weaken the veins.
As a result, blood can pool in the legs, leading to numbness, fatigue, swelling, and visible blue veins. If left untreated, this may progress to chronic venous insufficiency, serious complications, or even require surgery.
🔴 Diabetes
➤ Increases blood sugar → blood becomes thicker and flows more slowly
➤ Blood pools in the legs → veins have to work harder
→ Easily leads to vein weakening and dilation
🔴 High Blood Pressure
➤ Constant pressure hits the vein walls
➤ Fragile veins can't withstand it → abnormal expansion
→ Causes visible veins, leg swelling, and heavy leg fatigue
🔴 Weak Heart Function
➤ The heart pumps blood ineffectively → blood backs up in the legs
➤ Veins can’t push blood back to the heart → blood stagnates
→ Leads to swelling, cramps, and leg pain
🔴 High Blood Lipids (Cholesterol)
➤ Plaque builds up inside the blood vessels, blocking flow
➤ Poor circulation causes vein inflammation and swelling
→ Especially dangerous when combined with diabetes or hypertension
🔴 Pregnant Women
➤ Increased body weight and pelvic pressure
➤ Hormonal changes cause veins to dilate abnormally
➤ The growing fetus compresses the main veins
→ Causes leg swelling, numbness, visible veins, and high risk of varicose veins
